Congratulations to the team of John Fouse and
Dennis Wende for taking first overall in what
was an extra fun and exciting rally! Special congratulations
go to the first place novice class team of Peter
and Timothy Ryce in car # 6 who also placed
third overall in their first rally ever!
The conditions turned out to be very challenging
from the expected brisk and dusty rally. Although
the weatherman had predicted sunshine and dry
for the weekend, Mother Nature had other plans
and decided to give us rain. This made conditions
very difficult, not only being at night, and making
the roads extremely muddy and slippery!
Congratulations go to all the novices however
for keeping the cars on the road and the rubber
down in some very tough conditions! Hat's
off to the team of Bruce Harnden and Adrien Field
in car #8 for not giving up, although a broken
axle prevented them from completing the rally,
using some rope and tie straps to hold the car
together for the last 2 stages to come about 20
kms short of the finish is still quite a feat!
We would like to thank our sponsors; Nokian
Tyres for their continued support and for
the Nokian
Tyre contingency program, and our series sponsors
Wilkinson's
automobilia, and Specialty
Subaru for their contributions! A big thanks
to all the check pointers, for without them, we
would be unable to run these types of events.
Thanks to Martin Wilson, Dennis Wende and Paul
Westwick for their help, support, and guidance.
We have a feeling with the conditions, they had
fun too!
Golddigger went very well this year, as we had
a FABULOUS novice turnout of 6 cars! It is very
good to see so many novices coming out to these
events. We hope everyone had a good time and that
you are hooked on rally - just like the rest of
us. Shelley and I had fun organizing this rally
and hope to see you all at the next TSD rally,
The Coast to Coast Rally
on August 26/27, or the next performance rally,
The Pacific Forest Rally
on September 23, 2000. Even if you can't compete,
helping out is almost as much fun! |
